Bereavement Camps

  • Camp Erin Boston
Camp Erin Boston is a free weekend overnight camp for children and teens ages 6 through 17 who have experienced the death of someone close to them. This three day, two-night experience will be filled with traditional and fun camp activities combined with grief education and emotional support and will be facilitated by bereavement professionals and trained volunteers.
  • Circle Camp for Grieving Children
Camp programs for girls ages 9-12 and a teen program for girls ages 13-14.  This is a free one-week camp in Maine, West Virginia and New Hampshire for girls who have lost a parent. The experience combines traditional camp activities with age appropriate grief activities. There is also a CIT program for alumni campers ages 15-16.  CIT graduates can apply to the Circle Summit Leadership Program and become counselors.
  • Comfort Zone Camp
Offering support at bereavement camps for children and adults. Their local office is located in Winchester, although they have programs all over the country. There is a weekend camp in Sandwich, MA, typically in early May.
  • Experience Camps for Grieving Children
Experience Camps are free one-week camps for boys and girls who have experienced the death of a parent, sibling, or primary care giver. It’s a place where kids can laugh, cry, play, create, remember the person who died, or forget the grief that weighs them down. The camps in California, New York, and Georgia are co-ed, and Maine is a single-sex camp for boys. Please see the website to learn more.
  • Outward Bound for Grieving Teens
Outward Bound for Grieving Teens provides the opportunity for the participants, ages 14-18, to experience a one week, specially crafted outdoor wilderness expedition. By combining personal growth methodologies of Outward Bound with a simple support model that honors the griever, Outward Bound is able to deliver an intensely profound healing experience.
